Coaches

Nothing pulls a team together better than a great coach, and we are fortunate to have a great coaching staff. All workouts listed on the workout calendar are coached workouts. Our coaches vary the sets, distances, and intervals in all workouts based on the experience and ability level of each lane.

Lorie Gibson-Rick:

Coach Lorie has been coaching Masters swimmers since 1982. She has coached Masters and age group swimmers at all levels, from beginning swimmers to national champions. She was named the recipient of the 1994 John B Skehan Award for service to the Niagara LMSC and the 1996 recipient of the Niagara District Age Group Coach of the Year award. Lorie has served on several USMS national committees over the years, including the Coaches, Fitness, and Insurance Committees.

Lorie has been coaching RAMS since its conception in 1982. Initially team practices were held at Southeast YMCA; as the team grew it relocated to MCC then Harley school before swimming at our current locations RIT and MCC. We also have long-course workouts outdoors at Genesee Valley Park in the summers.

As a swimmer, Lorie was a five time Jr. College All American for MCC. She has served as the meet director for several local Masters meets since 1982 and for the NJCAA College Nationals in 1995 and the 1996 USMS National 2000 Fitness Challenge.

Lorie has been a physical education teacher and swim coach at the Harley School since 1996.

Dana competes in both pool and open-water events, and has had 110 Top Ten USMS swims, including 6 All-American and 2 All-Star achievements.

Dana is also an avid runner and triathlete; she is competitive in triathlons ranging from the Sprint to Ironman distance.

Dana has previously held positions as editor of the Niagara District newsletter and the Top Ten recorder.

After many years of swimming with the RAMS, Dana  became an Assistant Coach beginning in the fall of 2012. She is excited about working with swimmers of all levels.
